Hadlow United Vrs TW99
11th September 2005 (WKSL)
5-1 loss
With Walsh away and Harvey turning up late Matt Betts and Cooper were drafted into central defence with Carlton moving to right back and new kids on the block King and Marsden partnering up in midfield for the visit to TW99.
Hadlow played the first half uphill and given this were having a fair share of the game until, after 15 minutes, a throw-in down TW99's left resulted in a player playing a neat one two and planting his shot inside the near post. Phil Betts was then harshly penalised for handling the ball in the area and from the resulting penalty Hadlow went two down. A third wasn't far away when a TW99 player chipped the ball over Kerton from 30 yards. Hadlow were left scratching their head as to how they were 3-0 down.
Hadlow got one back when Marsden was adjudged to have been brought down, again quite debatable, and Webb scored the penalty. Hadlow then rallied for the final ten minutes of the first half and were unlucky not get at least a second when Cooley hit the post and had a shot from close range fortunately saved by the keeper sitting on the ball after he had missed it with his dive.
The second half started as the second had ended, Harvey replaced King and it was all Hadlow. However they couldn't create many clear openings and TW99 scored a 4th with 15 minutes to go when their substitute hopefully punted the ball from 40 yards only to see it sail in over a dis-believing Kerton. The remainder of the game petered out with TW99 adding a fifth in the final few minutes after Matt Betts tangled with a defender and put through his own net..
So whilst Hadlow were lucky to win 5-1 last week they were equally unfortunate to loose by the same score this time.
