Hadlow United Vrs Hildenborough Sunday

28th September 2003 (WKSL)

Hadlow faced the team with no points at Longmead and came away victors in a game that was never in doubt after Hildenborough lost a man through injury and went down to nine players, although the performance was far from faultless.

United with two extra men were always rushing into the final ball which very often wasn't finding it's intended target.  Webb and Muir worked tirelessly upfront and the partnership shows signs of developing well.  Hadlow took the lead through Wood after some good work down the left flank from Dan Race.  Muir got his goal tally off the ground  to double United's advantage and Webb hit the target twice before the break to take Hadlow in 4-1.

Excell swung a corner onto Betts' head in the second half who left it for Leach to power a header home.  Leach got United's sixth with a freekick that seemed to defy the laws of gravity as it appeared to be sailing over,  it dropped under the bar.

The scoring was completed when Walsh got on the end of a near post corner and his persistance paid off when he buried the ball into the net.

Another positive note to take from the game was the appearance for the last twenty minutes of Ashley Goldsmith who has been plagued with injury.

Harvey had to sit the game out after bruising his foot but is expected to be fit for next Sunday.
