Hadlow United got the worst possible start to their pre-season friendlies after White Hart Utd failed to gather a team and pulled out late Saturday evening, despite efforts to coax other teams for a game United were left to organise a 10 a-side match between themselves. Tonbridge Town responded to an SOS call and after a good hours work from the Hadlow team turned up for an un-official friendly. Hadlow ran out 3-2 winners with Webb bagging a couple and Phil Betts getting on the scoresheet. The news wasn't all good for Jim as new signing Daniel Race left proceedings after the first half with an ankle injury, even worse 5 minutes into the game Excell made a needless lunge on the sidelines and came off worse with a damaged foot, despite taking no further part in proceedings it is thought the injury will not prevent him taking part in next weeks home friendly with Gardeners Arms. United also gave a debut to Brynn Tocock who impressed in midfield. A new defensive pairing of Walsh and Betts had its moments and could develop well with experience. All in all the days workout was good and in searing temperatures of over 30°C, despite the two injuries, there were no major fitness concerns.
